Week One: Village of Oz
Situated within the Valley of Voe lies several villages,
this is just but one of those villages of invisible people. It is a small
village, as the people of the Valley of Voe prefer not to group together too
much for fear of attracting invisible bears.
This village, in particular, stands out especially due to
the fact that the greatest champion Overman-Anu resided here when he was alive.
His house still stands, untouched and abandoned, in tribute of his heroic
feats.
Across from Overman-Anu’s house stands the station of the
Village Guard. The guard station is a simple, small shack with a watch tower
nearby. Despite the weak look, inside one would notice that the walls are very
reinforced. It used to be that this was the first line of defense against bears,
and many times it would take the biggest beating. As such, the village guard
gave up on making it look nice and rather just reinforced the inside.
The village guard patrols the streets of the village and
keep guard against all bears. Overman-Anu once was the champion of the guard,
but now that he is passed, they have appointed a new leader. However, the
current leader of the guard feels that he does not live up to par with the
standards that Overman-Anu set. He continues to work diligently to ensure the
safety of the village inhabitants against the bears.
Further into town, in fact, right in the center of town is
the Bazaar. The center of trade and produce, the Bazaar sports many stalls with
many goods. The produce features the beloved dama fruits that the invisible
people of Voe enjoy so much, as well as many baked goods involving the fruits.
There’s also other wares for home use, but not much in the selection of
clothing or accessories as the people of Voe have no use for that.
One such vendor of the Bazaar is Melan. She works day in and
day out to bake delicious goods for the villagefolk. To her, nothing is better
than hearing the village children gobble down her treats with voracity. She is
beloved by the villagers for her treats are well known throughout the Valley as
the best, and she is always whipping up new recipes to top the last.
Nearby the Bazaar is the Mayor’s house. In comparison to the
other homes in the village, the mayor’s house stands much taller and more grand
and elegant in structure. With tall stone columns and a grand wooden door, it
clearly stands out from the rest. However, the Mayor himself is a humble old
man, who tries his best to oversee the village. He inherited this position from
his father, and his father’s father, and his father’s father’s father. He too
is stricken by the loss of their great champion Overman-Anu but he keeps face
in the absence.
At the farthest northern point of town, there lies the Dama
Greenery. It is a large greenhouse and fenced off field full of dama fruit
plants, with many village workers tending to the precious supply of fruit. Not
only that, but harvesters are also employed in order to gather more damas to
stockpile, in case of shortages. These people keep busy making sure the village
is well sustained in both food supply and invisibility.
